Mounds View City Council July 8, 2024 <br /> Regular Meeting Page 11 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson stated staff was looking at the parking <br /> 3 situation at Oakwood. He indicated this matter would be reviewed by the Parks, <br /> 4 Recreation and Forestry Commission, and a recommendation would be brought forward to the <br /> 5 City Council. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Police Chief Zender provided the Council with an update from the Police Department. He <br /> 8 explained he had two officers in shadow training at this time. He reiterated that Night to Unite <br /> 9 would be held on Tuesday, August 6. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Police Chief Zender explained he was chosen as the law enforcement liaison for NYFS and stated <br /> 12 he looked forward to serving with this organization. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Police Chief Zender indicated he would be working with staff to address the parking concerns at <br /> 15 Oakwood. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Police Chief Zender commented on the event that occurred at the splash pad on July 4 noting his <br /> 18 officers showed a tremendous amount of restraint and professionalism. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Police Chief Zender discussed the Intern and CSO programs that had been created noting he hoped <br /> 21 these would assist with bringing officers to the department. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 City Administrator Zikmund commended the Mounds View Police Department for handling the <br /> 24 issue at the splash pad extremely well. He appreciated how well trained the departments officers <br /> 25 were. He reported over the past seven years, when body cameras have been used, the department <br /> 26 has not had a single substantiated complaint. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 10.
