<br />Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Agenda <br />February 23, 2006 <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br />1. Roll Call <br /> <br />2. Approval of minutes from the January 26, 2006 meeting – Are currently not available. A contract for a <br />minute taker for Parks was denied by the City Council. <br /> <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners <br />on issues of concern. <br /> <br />4. YMCA Advisory Committee Update <br /> <br />5. Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />a) Groveland Park Building Replacement – <br />Bids were received on February 21, 2006. A total of thirteen (13) bids were received. Based on <br />previous City Council direction, the bids included a bid alternate for the air conditioning system for <br />the building. The low bid was from: <br />Base Bid Alternate#1 Total:Base/Alt <br />DNR Construction Inc. $226,900.00 $5,000.00 $231,900.00 <br />As a note: in July of 2005, the low bid received was $289,700 for the base bid, $7,000 for the <br />alternate, with a total bid of $296,700.00. <br />This will be brought to the City Council on February 27, 2006. <br /> <br />b) Random Park Building Replacement Project – <br />On February 13, 2006 the Council adopt a resolution to award a contract to Jay Bros., Incorporated <br />in the amount of $244,647.75 for Bid Alternate B (parking lot access from Ridge Lane). Work on <br />the foundation has started. The contractor is working on getting the necessary permit approvals and <br />coordinating the necessary work for moving the clubhouse. <br /> <br />c) Oakwood Park Renovation Project – <br />Staff met with the City’s consultant regarding this project. There are many issues that will need to <br />be addressed to make this project a reality: A permit from the Rice Creek Watershed District is <br />required, a grading plan and erosion control plan will need to be developed, a wetland delineation is <br />needed, a flood plain mitigation plan will need to be developed an approved, a permit from the <br />Metropolitan Council Environmental Services will be required…. <br /> <br />d) County Road 10 Corridor Improvement Program – <br />On January 9, 2006, the City Council authorized a feasibility report for two trailway segments along <br />County Road 10: County Road H to Silver Lake Road on the north side, and Long Lake Road to <br />Silver Lake Road on the south side. The City will know if we were successful or not with the grant <br />application of the north side segment on March 15. A Citywide Open House has been planned for <br />March 9, 2006. The Theme Committee met on February 15, 2006. The City will be submitting a <br />DNR Trailway Grant application for the segment on the south side in between Silver Lake Road <br />and Long Lake Road at the end of this month. The City Council approved a resolution of support <br />for the grant application on February 13, 2006. The City is requesting letters of support for the grant <br />from civic groups (including the Park and Recreation Commission). <br /> <br />
