Please give this request consideration and let me know your thoughts. Thanks. -Kurt
-----Original Message-----
From: Gary C. Dahle [mailto:gary@dahlelaw.com]
Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 4:12 PM
To: Kurt Ulrich
Subject: Silverview field

Dan Weldon just informed me that the Silverview Soccer Field will not be available until after June 20th due to the re-seeding of the turf. I coach one local U-13 soccer team, and am
the field coordinator for a local youth soccer club.

The MYSA soccer season runs from about May 1 through July 7. Closing the Silverview Soccer Field until June 20th will be a major disruption since it is the only field of this size in
the area. There is no substitute - all other fields are either too small, or too large.

What is the point of having a youth soccer field, if the youth cannot use it during their season. Officially closing the field will not keep the softball players off of it when they
warm up for their games, and it won't keep the soccer teams who do not bother to request a permit from playing on the field anyway. The Calvin school will continue to use it as their
playground, whether or not it is closed.

Put the seed down, and let the kids play on it. The city closed the field two years ago for the same purpose, and it made no difference in the field quality.

Please reconsider this decision which will have serious adverse consequences for the kids. Two age groups of kids have no other local suitable field on which to play.

Gary Dahle

Office 763-780-8390
Cell 612-801-7099
Home 651-636-4066
