Your FEEDBACK is requested
Please fill out and return this form to the City by Friday, August 18, 2006
On July 27, 2006 the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission conducted a Public Information
Meeting regarding the proposal to revitalize Oakwood Park by making improvements and providing
various amenities to the park At this meeting there will be a presentation on the proposal to revitalize
Oakwood Park by making improvements and providing various amenities to the park. These
improvements and amenities include an addition of two soccer fields and a "Tot Lot Playground" in the
area that now contains one baseball field. (The ball field is the least used field in the city, eliminating it
should have a minimal impact.) The existing playground is outdated and in bad condition due to
repeated vandalism and must be removed. The crossing from the sidewalk along the east side of
Quincy and across Hillview will be moved east to Quincy on the north side of Hillview, this will allow for
a permanent repair to be made on the north side of Hillview where there is a chronic wash out problem
on the path leading into the park. It is proposed that we install berms and trees in the green space on
the north side of Hillview and install a "Disc golf course" along the aggregate pathway that runs to the
backside of Greenfield Park. This would be part of the "Passive Park" look and feel that would work well
in the existing floodplain mitigation area.
The Parks Commission wants to get your input to help define the scope of improvements and to
determine if there is support for this proposal.
Please comment on any suggestions, recommendations, issues, or concerns you may have regarding
the proposal to revitalize Oakwood Park.
Shoreview Area Youth Baseball (SAYB) has enjoyed a very good relationship with the City of Mounds
View for many years and welcome the opportunity to comment on your proposal. SAYB does not
currently use the Oakwood Park field as indicated by staff in their report. We do use other parks in the
system, and to help keep these fields, SAYB would be willing to offer some financial assistance to help
upgrade the fields We have been very active helping other communities with safety upgrades to
dugout fencing, benches. etc , and would be pleased to work with the City in these areas. Thank you
for all of your help in the past, and we look forward to continuing our affiliation with the City of Mounds
View.
The following is optional. However, having your name and address allows us to obtain additional
information, if necessary, to follow up on your comments.
Name Tom Scott Phone 763-785-6182
Address 4225 Elizabeth Lane, Vadnais Heights, MN Zip 55127
Thank you for taking the time to complete this form. Please return it to the Mounds View City Hall by
August 18, 2006 by folding and mailing it, by dropping it off at City Hall, by emailing it to
greg.lee@ci.mounds-view.mn us or by faxing it to 763-784-3462. Your comments will be presented to
the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission on August 24, 2006 and included in an information
packet to be presented to the City Council on August 28, 2006.
Sincerely,
Greg Lee
Director of Public Works
