Item No. 4B Meeting Date: November 6, 2006 Type of Business: WK WK: Work Session; PHI- Public Hearing, CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City Administrator Review To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works Item Title/Subject: Mounds View Community Center and Park Facility Fee Structure Proposal Background: The Mounds View Community Center Advisory Committee and the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission have been reviewing the current fee structure in anticipation of updating the 2007 City of Mounds View Fee Schedule. Discussion: There are three main areas that were reviewed: Areas at the Community Center (event center, multi-purpose rooms, gym), Park Buildings, and Field Use. In addition to adjusting the fees to account for inflation and other factors, there were several issues that were identified as needing to be addressed. • There are two different classifications systems for areas at the Community Center and Park Buildings. These should be consolidated. 0 Establish more detailed rates for the Community Center based on classification and length of usage. • Class IV rates for Park Building may be too low considering the cost of cleaning up after an event. 0 City Hall Park Shelter should be added to the list. • All rental items (Areas at the Community Center, Park Buildings and Field Use) should be combined into one document with one classification system (i.e. the 2007 Fee Structure). 0 Change Mounds View Athletic Associations to Class I (from Class 11).
