c.) Meeting with City Council — On April 2, 2007 the annual meeting between the Commission and the <br />City Council was conducted. Commissioner Kunz, Kroeger, Aukee attended this meeting. The list of <br />topics that were discussed include: <br />*Oakwood Park plan <br />*Improving ball fields <br />*Attendance on YMCA Advisory Committee with regard to time <br />*How does the Commission fit in with operation of the MVCC? <br />*Does the City Council think we should attend more city council meetings? In mass? <br />*Representative on BBC Committee? <br />d.) Hillview Playground Equipment - The 2007 budget has $3 8,000 allocated for the replacement of the <br />playground equipment at Hillview Park. The Commissioners were encouraged to visit the park to <br />determine replacement needs. The Commission has requested to review the original proposed Oakwood <br />playground at this meeting. Staff will present the plans that were originally put together for Oakwood <br />Park as requested by the Commission. Some of the Commission members thought this design might be <br />a good fit for Hillview Park. <br />e.) Parks Promotional Video — A suggestion has been made to re -execute the parks video in the summer <br />when there is activity (softball, baseball, etc) going on. <br />6. New Business: <br />a.) Park Improvement Plan - Draft Budgets for 2008 are due at the end of June. The Park Improvement <br />Plan should be reviewed and updated. The Commission may want to consider conducting a "Park Tour <br />Meeting". A list of City Parks to visit and a date to conduct the tour should be determined. <br />7. Commissioner/Staff Reports: <br />a) County Road 10 Trailway Project: Segments 9&10 Project Update — Contracts for this project have <br />been executed. The City has issued a notice to the contractor to proceed. Work on the trailway should <br />begin shortly. <br />b) Groveland Building Replacement Project — Staff met with TKDA and various inspectors on Friday, <br />April 20th. There were some issues with the lights and some power problems along with a lock that <br />would not function properly. TKDA is putting together a punch list for Staff to review later this week. <br />The contractor is scheduled to finish the touch up grading and complete the seed / sod by mid May. The <br />landscaping will be done by an Eagle Scout candidate shortly after. <br />c) Tree Preservation & Landscaping Ordinance — The City has placed an article in the May/June Edition <br />of the Mounds View Matters seeking public input on this topic (included in packet). This will be placed <br />on a future City Council Work Session Agenda for further discussion. <br />d) The YMCA Advisory Committee Meeting Update — The committee met on April 2, 2007. The Agenda <br />has been included in the information packet <br />e) Greenfield Baseball Field - The Commission wanted to know the cost of an artificial turf pitchers <br />mound for Greenfield Park. That cost has been determined to be $4,000.00 (includes shipping). <br />
