Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting Minutes <br />March 15, 2007 <br />1. Call to Order: 6:38 PM <br />Roll Call: Aukee, Palm, Kroeger, Kunz, Peterson, Arel <br />Staff Present: Dazenski, Weldon <br />2. Approval of minutes from the February 22, 2007 meeting. Motion by Arel, 2"d by Peterson to approve <br />minutes. Motion Passed 6-0 <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners <br />on issues of concern. NO residents present <br />4. YMCA Update: Weldon <br />Registration for summer programs now being accepted. Summer Safety Camp, Soccer, Playground <br />Programs. <br />Bike Helmet fitting May 22"d. 4-7 PM <br />Taking building rental reservations and field reservations: No one has seemed to withdraw requested <br />reservations due to fees. <br />YMCA Advisory meeting time changed to 3:30 on regular meeting dates. Darren Peterson will represent <br />the Commission. <br />5. Unfinished Business: <br />a.) Oakwood Park Proposal <br />Phase I <br />Quotes for Phase I items which include grading, irrigation, and restoration (using mechanical <br />seeding) will be presented to the City Council on March 26, 2007 for consideration of awarding <br />a contract. To ensure that this project is completed in a timely fashion and to address the <br />coordination issues that would be encountered with multiple contractors, the contracts have been <br />consolidated so as to have one general contractor responsible for the grading, irrigation, and <br />restoration aspects of Phase I. The contract for the fencing portion of this phase will be <br />presented at a later meeting as a separate contract. <br />Rice Creek Watershed District presented some concerns with grading and mitigation. Will be <br />addressed within next few weeks. <br />Phase II <br />Phase II is the creation of a playground area adjacent to the proposed soccer fields. The <br />Commission has made a motion recommending "Recess Time II" in earth tone colors. This will <br />be presented to the City Council on March 26, 2007. There will be swings, 2 buckets, 2 belts, <br />but no tot lot. <br />Phase III <br />Disc Golf — The Commission has a motion recommend the design of an 18 -Hole course by <br />Mike Snelson from Fairway Flyerz. <br />
