Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting Agenda <br />June 28, 2007 <br />6:30 P.M. <br />1. Roll Call <br />2. Approval of minutes froin the May 24, 2007 meeting. <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Park and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners <br />on issues of concern. <br />4. YMCA Update <br />.5. Unfinished Business: <br />a.) Park hmprovement Plan — the Park Improvement Plan is the document utilized by the Commission to <br />plan and budget for park improvements. This document has three main components/ categories: <br />Category A — These are simple maintenance items that City crews can perform during the calendar year <br />Category B — These are items to be budget for in the next year or two ($35,000 budgeted in 2007) <br />Category C — These are items with large capital expenditures anticipated over the next five or more <br />years. These items will also be included in the City's Capital Improvement Program. <br />The Park Improvement Plan has been updated based on direction given by the Commission during May <br />24`x' Park Tour and discussions at the May 24"' Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. The <br />Commission should review and finalize this draft. The Commission should then snake a motion to <br />approve the Park Improvement Plan and direct staff to present tit to the City Council on July 91" for <br />approval of the plan and approval of items to be purchased in 2007. <br />6. New Business: <br />a.) Groveland and Hillview Ball field review — review possible new locations for these fields and issues <br />associated with their relocation. <br />b.) Comprehensive Plan Task Force — Selecting a Parks and Recreation Commission Representative. The <br />City is required to update its Comprehensive Plan by 2008. To assist in updating the plan, the City <br />Council will be establishing a task. force. The City Council would like one member from each City <br />Commission to represent that Commission on the Comprehensive Plan Task Force. <br />c.) Environmental Commission - A question arose pertaining to whether the Parks and Recreation and <br />Forestry Commission should be assist and provide comment and recommendation involving <br />enviroiunental issues. There was an Enviromnental Commission at on point but was disbanded due to <br />the lack of activities. The Commission questioned what activities they would be involved in. <br />d.) Disc Golf Course - Disc Golf —Mike Snelson from Fairway Flyerz is currently working on the course <br />layout. He has taken GPS readings and some pictures of the area. He will be making arrangements to <br />have our City Forester meet with him on site (this has not occurred yet). A preliminary plan will be <br />available at the meeting for review and comments by the Commissioners. The Commissioners may <br />want to schedule a "walk through" of the proposed disc golf course. <br />e.) Park Clean Up Day <br />
