• Dehydration <br />o People getting hurt while digging the injuries from these encounters would be <br />minor. <br />To help prevent injuries: <br />O I will set up a tool and supply area slightly away from the work area in the <br />parking lot. <br />• VVater will be provided and encouraged. Lunch will also be provided for the <br />volunteers. <br />• Volunteers will be supervised. Supervision will include instructions on how to <br />work and what to do if you are suffering from the heat, bug and the elements. <br />• Provide clothing instructions to the helpers prior to the project. The list will <br />include wearing closed toe shoes, work gloves, pants, long sleeve shirts and <br />anything else which will expose the least bear skin possible. Sun screen will <br />be provided. <br />• The shelter will be available for our use during the project. The shelter will be <br />used for relaxing/ eating area. We can also use this space for people suffering <br />from the heat and to put personal items they may have. <br />• At least two forms of communication, (two mobile phones), to use for <br />emergencies if required. <br />The first aid kit will be located in the shelter next to the water. Everyone will <br />be told where the first aid kit is. <br />My back up person who will take over for me will be my friend, Dan Hurley, who is a <br />senior scout. He just did his eagle project and is capable and willing to take over for <br />me. <br />The safety officer at the sight will be my father Terry Jacobson. He has worked with <br />tools and construction safety. He has worked on bridge construction and he knows <br />how to be safe. He can assist me with safety at the work sight. <br />He will also be the go to man if anyone gets hurt. He knows how to treat injuries very <br />well through his training as a National Guard officer. <br />will be in charge of teaching the work groups their jobs and organizing volunteers. <br />8 <br />
