Streets and utilities Committee Recommendations <br />July 7, 2008 <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />A feedback form was presented to the residents at the June 14, 2008 <br />Neighborhood Meeting requesting feedback related to additional parking stalls. <br />The response was split between citizens that wanted parking added and those <br />that wanted no change (see attached Feedback Form Summary Table). City staff <br />feels that parking is deficient at Hillview Park, particularly during the youth <br />softball/baseball games. Adding off-street parking would not only expand the <br />amount of parking spaces, but would also improve the safety of the parking. <br />(Refer to the graphic below). <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Proposed off-street parking improvements at Hillview Park <br /> <br /> <br />For these reasons, the Committee recommends (by a unanimous 6-0 vote) that <br />27 angled parking stalls be provided on the north side of Hillview Road adjacent <br />to Hillview Park. The Committee also recommends that a “bump out” lane for <br />parallel parking be provided on the east side of Greenwood Drive along Hillview <br />Park. The “bump out” would decrease the number of parking spaces by one or <br />two. However, it would improve safety by minimizing congestion on Greenwood <br />Drive, which will be reconstructed to the City standard width of 28 feet. <br /> <br />With high price of oil, the Committee is concerned that the costs for this project <br />and the future reconstruction projects could be higher than originally anticipated. <br />The Committee is concerned about keeping this project within budget and <br />ensuring that all future reconstruction projects can be completed within budget. <br />The Committee is also very concerned with the recent actions of the State <br />Legislature (Omnibus Tax Bill) which has the potential for changing the financial
