Background <br /> The Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commission requested Staff to investigate the <br /> possibility for the City of Mounds View to have community gardens. <br /> Staff reached out to several neighboring Cities and received the information on the <br /> attached spread sheet. Included on the spread sheet is each City's Parks Operating <br /> budget and the number of employees in the parks departments. <br /> Staff also reached out to Edgewood Middle school about using an old garden area, that <br /> could <br /> possibly serve as a location for a trial basis for the City to gauge the interest level <br /> on Community Gardens. <br /> Staff has several questions for the Commission before moving forward: <br /> City of Mounds View Garden Club <br /> (A partnership between#621 Mounds View Schools and The City of Mounds View 2025) <br /> - Does the garden club need to have an official presentative i.e. president and vice <br /> president? <br /> - What would be the role of this position? <br /> - Does the garden lot users pay a deposit? <br /> - The deposits would be paid the City of Mounds View? <br /> - What should the deposit be? <br /> - Damage Deposit—would be returned after the garden bed is cleaned up in the <br /> fall? <br /> - What rules to include on the Community Garden sign: <br /> • Open 7am to Sunset? <br /> • Parking lot open from 7am to ? <br /> • Respect the plots of others <br /> • No alcohol, drugs or nicotine use <br /> • No glass allowed <br /> • Do not leave personal items on the school premise <br /> • All weeds trash and litter must be taken after each use <br />
