Page 4 <br />Apprentice <br />Inspects facilities to identify building maintenance needs. Assist and participate in facility improvements and <br />alterations. <br />Performs light electrical and telecommunication repair and installation. <br />Tests and maintains emergency lighting, security cameras, and security alarm systems. <br />Other Work Functions (Illustrative Onl : <br />Performs related work as required. <br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Re uired: <br />• Ability to obtain Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement within six (6) months of <br />employment. <br />• Ability to obtain tanker endorsement within twelve (12) months of employment. <br />• Ability to obtain a Wastewater Operator Class S-D certificate issued by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency or obtain <br />within 18 months of employment (111 certificate required). <br />o Maintenance Workers appointed to the Wastewater subdivision require a Class S-D certificate at the time of <br />employment and must obtain a Class S-C certificate within 3 years of employment. <br />• Ability to obtain a Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate issued by Minnesota Department of Health or <br />obtain within 18 months of employment (2"d Certificate required). <br />o Maintenance Workers appointed to the Drinking Water subdivision require a Class D certificate at time of <br />employment and are required obtain a Class B certificate within 5 years of employment. <br />• Maintenance Workers appointed to the Streets and Parks subdivisions must obtain a Non -Commercial Pesticide <br />Applicator License Categories A & E, issued by Minnesota Department of Agriculture within 18 months of employment. <br />• Maintenance Workers appointed to the Parks subdivision must possess a Certified Pool Operators (CPO) license within <br />18 months of employment; and Playground Maintenance Technician (PMT) certification within 5 years of employment. <br />• Maintenance Workers appointed to the Stormwater subdivision must obtain an Erosion and Sediment Control <br />Construction Installer Certificate issued by the University of Minnesota Department of Bio-products and Bio-systems <br />engineering within 18 months of employment. <br />• Common and specialized hand and power tools used for mechanical repairs. <br />• Specialized industry equipment including mechanical street sweeper, combination jetting/vacuum sewer cleaning <br />truck, crack sealing kettle and distributor machine, asphalt hot box, trash pump, pneumatic post driver, jib crane, <br />motorized valve wrenches, and other specialized equipment. <br />• Common turf and landscape maintenance equipment including push and riding mowers, all -terrain implement <br />carriers, utility vehicles, sprayers, aerators, dethatchers, split seeder, line trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw, pole saw, <br />and other machinery and implements. <br />• Office tools and equipment including telephone, copier, personal computer, calculator, and mobile radios. <br />• Proper safety precautions related to all work performed, including safe handling and application of chemicals used in <br />line of work and stored on site. <br />Persons with disabilities: the above is a general listing of job duties.
