Item No. 6B <br /> MEMORANDUM MOUNDS VIEW <br /> PUBLIC WORKS <br /> To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br /> From: Pete Szurek— Public Works Superintendent <br /> Date: Sept 22, 2024 <br /> RE: Public Works Staff Report <br /> The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. <br /> (2 fulltime Park Workers, Arborist and 0 seasonal workers) worked on the following items since Sept. 1, <br /> 2024. <br /> Parks Maintenance <br /> • Weekly cutting and painting of soccer and ball field lines <br /> • Some ballfield game preparations <br /> • Splash Pad daily maintenance up until Labor Day (closed for the season) <br /> • Repaired old soccer goals in preparation of fall soccer (moved to Silverview) <br /> • Mowing, whipping and trash clean up at all parks <br /> • Assisted Storm water with cleaning inlets and outlets for one day <br /> • Assisted with Resource Fair transporting picnic tables <br /> • Aeriation at all parks ongoing this week <br /> Forestry <br /> Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br /> • Resident phone consults and site visits, daily (Responded to dozens and dozens of calls and <br /> emails) <br /> • Contractor meets and calls <br /> • Watering trees and the circle garden at Silverview <br /> • Full tree diseases survey of the city (marking diseased trees 3/4 complete) <br /> • One day Storm Water inlets and Outlets assistance <br /> • Parks mowing assistance <br /> • Inspection of Central Sandblast plantings and landscaping <br /> • Replaced plants at City Hall Park next to the splashpad transformer <br /> • Replaced plants at Hodges Park on the North sidewalk <br /> • Festival Preparation <br /> • Working on city tree sale <br /> • Working on prairie kits <br /> • Assisting Parks <br /> 1I <br />
