<br />Item No: 7A <br />Meeting Date: November 25, 2024 <br />Type of Business: EDA <br />City Administrator Review: _____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Economic Development Authority <br />From: Brian Beeman, Assistant City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 24-EDA-375, Appointing Members to the Economic <br />Development Commission (EDC) <br /> <br />Background <br />The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is comprised of seven members – three business <br />representatives and four resident representatives. The terms are three years. Jason Helgemoe, Jim <br />Freichles, and Gary Stevenson’s terms expire December 31, 2024. According to the Mounds View <br />City Code Section 408.03: <br />The Commission shall be composed of seven (7) equal voting <br />members, including three (3) business representatives and four (4) <br />residents, appointed by the Authority Board of Commissioners based <br />on the recommendation of the Economic Development Commission, <br />from the applications submitted. Members shall have diverse <br />qualifications with practical experience consisting of, not limited to, <br />but including one (1) of the following areas: economics, finance, <br />accounting, real estate, social services and marketing. <br /> <br />There were three openings and three applications were received. Jason Helgemoe and Jim <br />Freichles are reapplying for another term as a Business Representative, while Gary Stevenson is <br />reapplying as a Resident Representative. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Staff received three (3) applications, two for the Business Representative openings and one for the <br />Resident Representative opening. The EDC considered the applications at their November 21st <br />meeting and they are recommending that the EDA consider appointing Jason Helgemoe and Jim <br />Freichles as the Business Representatives and Gary Stevenson as the Resident Representative to <br />the EDC with their terms starting January 1, 2025 and expiring December 31, 2027. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Consider EDA Resolution 24-EDA-375, a resolution appointing members to the Economic <br />Development Commission (EDC). <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> ________________________ <br />Brian Beeman <br />Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Attachment: <br />24-EDA-375 A Resolution Appointing Members to the Economic Development Commission <br />(EDC) <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />County
