RESOLUTION 10004 <br />1 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />APPROVE THE PROPOSAL FROM RAK CONSTRUCTION FOR THE <br />PUBLIC WORKS OFFICE REMODEL <br />WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has many responsibilities that include <br />but is not limited to efficiently operating and managing the City of Mounds View <br />infrastructure such as the drinking water system, sanitary sewer system, storm water <br />system, parks and grounds, facility maintenance, streets, sidewalks, trails, vehicles and <br />equipment, natural areas including wooded and forested areas; and <br />WHEREAS, over the years, additional unfunded State and Federal Mandates have <br />been placed on the Public Works Department along with increased operations and <br />maintenance responsibilities, which then has resulted in hiring additional Staff; and <br />WHEREAS, when the Public Works facility was built in 2016, Administrative Staff <br />was not anticipated to be housed in the new facility, but with efficiency and unity in <br />mind, the department would be functioning under 1 roof, something it hadn't since 1997; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, City Council was advised of the necessity to remodel the <br />Administration office area to include the construction of a new office in the garage area <br />for the Public Works Foreman; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff worked with two construction contractors to provide a cost <br />estimate, for the Public Works Administration office remodel and the construction of a <br />new office in the garage area; and <br />WHEREAS, 2 proposals were received: <br />RAK Construction, Inc $131,684.00 <br />Arko Restoration & Remodeling $118,021.8$134,013.98 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds <br />View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. Approves the proposal from RAK Construction for remodeling the Public Works <br />Administrative office and the construction of a new office in the garage area at <br />a cost of $131,684.00. <br />2. Approves a 7% contingency or $9,217.88 for any unforeseen issues that may <br />arise during this project. <br />3. The project costs will be funded from Special Projects, account 480-4160- <br />7050. <br />
