Page 2 Lead Parks Worker or Lead Streets & Stormwater Worker <br />Assists all maintenance divisions and other departments as necessary in the required maintenance of City -owned <br />properties. <br />Other Work Functions (Illustrative Only): <br />Performs related work as required. <br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: <br />• Possession of a valid Minnesota Class B commercial driver's license, with air brake endorsement. <br />• Good knowledge of the practices and methods used in streets, parks, or automotive repair. <br />• Skill in the operation and care of light and heavy equipment, including dump trucks, mowers, tractors, end loaders, <br />motor graders, and jet rodders. <br />• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate several on -going maintenance projects requiring adequate materials and <br />variable number of personnel. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the public. <br />• Ability to deal tactfully, confidently, and effectively with all City personnel, outside agencies, and the public, both in <br />person and on the telephone. <br />• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff and the public. <br />• Ability to provide work direction to a work crew. <br />• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks in any type of weather and condition. <br />• Able to perform difficult manual labor tasks including lifting heavy objects, stooping, bending, and twisting, including <br />performing work tasks for extended periods of time and in adverse weather conditions. <br />• Obtain and keep current all licensures and certificates required for position. <br />• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including co- <br />workers, other departments, other agencies, vendors, and the public. <br />• Pass a medical physical examination and drug test, and promotional or hiring assessment with a licensed <br />psychologist. <br />• Knowledge of: <br />• Common and specialized hand and power tools, mechanical equipment, vehicles, and other heavy and light <br />equipment used for mechanical repairs. <br />• Office tools and equipment including telephone, copier, personal computer, calculator, and mobile radios. <br />• Parts and supplies used in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair. <br />• Proper safety precautions related to all work performed, including safe handling and application of chemicals <br />used in work and stored on site. <br />Lead Parks Worker: <br />• Ability to obtain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license within 18 months of employment. <br />• Ability to obtain Playground Maintenance Technician (PMT) certification within 3 years of employment. <br />• Ability to obtain a Non -Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Categories A & E, issued by Minnesota <br />Department of Agriculture within 18 months of employment. <br />• Knowledge and experience in turf management practices. <br />• Knowledge and experience with irrigation systems. <br />• Knowledge and experience in building and playground maintenance. <br />• Knowledge of park construction. <br />Lead Streets & Stormwater Worker: <br />• Ability to obtain a Non -Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Categories A & E, issued by Minnesota <br />Department of Agriculture within 18 months of employment. <br />
