Page 2 F'F^"ghteF/PiFe Mafshatl�HousingZCocle Enforcement Inspector <br />• Works closely with outside administration of housing programs designed to rehabilitate, maintain, and upgrade the <br />City's housing stock and deal with the issues of housing conditions affecting single family, multiple family, and <br />manufactured housing. <br />• Prepares ordinances which address housing issues including housing maintenance and inspection. <br />• Administers the City's code enforcement program by investigating complaints of code violations, preparing letters, <br />notices, and reports, maintain files, advise property owners of code requirements and enforcement procedures, and <br />how to obtain compliance. The code enforcement process may involve court proceedings and the preparation of <br />evidence. <br />• Develops and ensures effective inspections and neighborhood service programs utilizing education and incentives as <br />well as legal action. <br />• Identifies inconsistencies in code provisions and recommends code revisions. Prepares code revisions as assigned. <br />Other Work Functions (Illustrative Only): <br />Performs related work as required. <br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: <br />• Possession of a valid Minnesota driver's license. <br />• Willing to become a 513M Fi Fefr'b-r ter. <br />• Knowledge of practices, principles, and techniques of effective code enforcement principles. <br />• Knowledge of the state laws and local authorities as they apply to the position. <br />• Skill in public presentations and negotiation skills. <br />• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the public. <br />• Ability to deal tactfully, confidently, and effectively with all City personnel, outside agencies, and the public, both in <br />person and on the telephone. <br />• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff and the public. <br />• Obtain and keep current all licensures and certificates required for position. <br />• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including co- <br />workers, other departments, other agencies, vendors, and the public. <br />• Pass a medical physieal ^.,.... iRat'^^ ^'psychological hiring assessment and drug test. <br />• Ability to obtain state certification as a Building Official Limited within one (1) year of employment. <br />• Ability to review and understand complicated plans and blueprints. <br />• Skilled with word processing, spreadsheet and permitting software, digital imaging, and standard office equipment. <br />Persons with disabilities: the above is a general listing of job duties.
