Item No. 6A <br />Mill�JN EW <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />1/ 0 =0 1l Kea *WTV11 <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From: Andy Thomas — Parks & Recreation Superintendent <br />Date: January 231, 2025 <br />RE: Parks & Recreation Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Parks & Recreation Department. <br />Building & Operations <br />• Staffing <br />o Youth Development Staff, Front Desk, Group Fitness Instructor <br />Year in review <br />Programs <br />o Youth Programs <br />• Leagues — Record numbers of participating in youth leagues this summer/fall. <br />Looking at a scheduling/coordination platform for 2025 for better <br />communication and organization. <br />■ New program offerings included: Babysitting class, school release days, <br />RevSports volleyball and football, Survival 101 class, <br />o Adult Sports <br />■ Bag toss, indoor volleyball and outdoor volleyball. <br />o Seniors <br />Trips — Osceola Train, Taylors Falls boat cruise, Twins game <br />■ Seminars — Al for seniors, fall prevention, fraud and scam alert, the art of <br />Swedish death cleaning, estate planning, don't let depression get you down <br />and vision loss resources. <br />Events — Cinco De Mayo lunch, lots of bingo, walk in the park, second yoga <br />class, Silver Ukes concert and monthly miniature golf. <br />Summer/Fall <br />o Explore More Camp <br />■ Added Leader's in training program for 6` — 8th grades.
