Page 4 Maintenance Worker • Performs janitorial and light building maintenance duties in park buildings and shelters including cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, stocking supplies, picking up litter, emptying trash containers, replacing light bulbs, painting, washing windows, and cleaning outdoor furniture. • Participates in inspecting and diagnosing park and recreation facilities and equipment for unsafe and hazardous conditions. Takes notice of park activities during work assignments that may cause harm to the public or park facilities. • Removes graffiti and repair damage from acts of vandalism. • Installs trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and native grasses. Maintains planting beds and garden areas in parklands and building grounds. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: • Ability to obtain tanker endorsement within six (6) months of employment. • Ability to obtain a Water Supply System Operator Class D certificate issued by Minnesota Department of Health or obtain within 18 months of employment. o Maintenance Workers appointed to the DriP*ilw-�V-'Aer Utility_subdivision 1irp a -D-c4, rtificate at timc- : P!0Vr1.11, .' are required obtain a Class B certificate within 5 years of employment. • Ability to obtain a Wastewater Operator Class S-D certificate issued by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency or obtain within 18 months of employment. o Maintenance Workers appointed to the Wastewater Utslity_ subdivision cl-rti#icati at -thv' t4ii4 4Rleymen- .P4 must obtain a Class S-C certificate within 'i years of employment. • Maintenance Workers appointed to the Streets/Storm W atef and Parks subdivisions must obtain a Non -Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Categories A & E, issued by Minnesota Department of Agriculture within 18 months of employment. • Maintenance Workers appointed to the Parks subdivision must possess a Certified Pool Operators (CPO) license within 18 months of employment; and, Playground Maintenance Technician (PMT) certification within 5 years of employment. • Maintenance Workers appointed to the Areetsi'Stormwater subdivision must obtain an Erosion and Sediment Control Construction Installer Certificate issued by the University of Minnesota Department of Bio-products and Bio-systems engineering within 18 months of employment. • Common and specialized hand and power tools used for mechanical repairs.
