Mobile Food Truck Staff Report <br />City Council Work Session <br />May 3, 2021 - Page 2 of 3 <br />With current social distancing guidelines still in place, people are having more celebrations outside and <br />in parks. One questions that has come up is, if a private party is having some type of celebration and <br />renting out a park shelter, would we allow them to bring a food truck into the park. If so, how would <br />we address that? We have also had inquires about having food trucks at private graduation parties for <br />a few hours. Would we allow them to park in the street or would they have to park in a driveway or <br />yard? Would we treat these private party food trucks the same as a public food truck? <br />Staff recommends revising the City Code to include verbiage regarding mobile food units and street <br />vending (ice cream trucks). Staff can provide the recommended Code revisions at a future meeting. <br />Staff also recommends that a different application be used for MFU’s and street vending/ice cream <br />trucks versus the City’s peddlers/solicitors and transient merchant license application. (A brief <br />definition of street vending is a vehicle going from street-to-street stopping only to vend their product <br />and then continuing). <br />Staff also recommends fees for MFU’s at $200/year and either $30/day or something similar.
