ADMIN
•
DEPARTMENT Q Natural ResQur ._
TO Lloyd Knudson, Wildlife Manager
Carlos Avery Game Farm
FROM Judy Davidson
Metro Region W rs
STATIO MINNESOTA
Off ice Memorandum
SUBJECT: PERMIT APPLICATION 80-6258, M & E DEVELOPMENT meeting
DATE: Oct. 28, 1980
Present were: Jerry Sunde, Consulting Engineers; Peter
Willenbring, Rice Creek Watershed District; Steve Rose,
City of Moundsview; and Dan Boxrud, Short, Elliott, Hendrickson.
Jerry worked up new plans --contour map --which reveals a floating
bog straddling the ditch which goes through wetland. Jerry can
manage to save much of the vegetation if he can excavate the west
and north edges for open water. The far northwest corner (above
the OHW) will be excavated for more storage and a possible swimming
beach.
The watershed district likes an alternate wet -dry condition for
nutrient assimilation. Jerry can accomodate and so WSD is happy
with revised project with certain provisions (erosion control, etc.).
The city wants as much storage as possible --Steve Rose wants letter.
The pond drains the steep gradient of groundwater --discharge is at 894.
Jerry wants water level control at 893.2 (lowered,a8 feet).
ch
