Enclosed are calculations
for the pre -development 100 year discharge, an analysis of land use at
final development of the drainage area, and storage -discharge relation-
ships for various pond designs.
Pre -development discharge was computed to determine the limits of
peak flow from the ponding area. The Rice Creek Watershed District
normally requires that peak discharges after development of a site not
exceed pre -development rates. In our previous letter of June 6, 1980,
we indicated that the pre -development 100 year peak discharge from the
on -site wetland area should be about 64 cfs.
The land use breakdown for the tributary drainage area is included
with these calculations.
Aporoximate discharges were calculated for pond storage varying from
40 to 65 acre feet. The relationship is plotted in the attached figure.
In our June 6, 1980, letter, we recommended that design of the site use
a storage of 68.7 acre feet and a peak discharge of 5.2 cfs. Should it
be desired to design for less developed storage, the curve indicates the
probable resulting discharges.
Yours very truly,
Gerald M.
