Mounds View City Council January 9, 1989 <br />Regular Meeting Page Five <br />-=------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br />. negotiations with the police union, and the public <br />works contract was approved last year, for a two <br />year period. The majority of increases are 4~, <br />with an increase in insurance benefits of $15 per <br />month. <br />Motion/Second: Wuori/Hankner to approve Resolution <br />No. 2435, establishing salaries and benefits <br />effective January 1, 1989, and waive the reading. <br /> <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Public Works Foreman Ulrich requested Council authori- <br />zation for the purchase of a budgeted brake lathe, and <br />he reviewed the anticipated savings in having this <br />piece of equipment. Due to an upgrade in the model, <br />the cost is $377 over the budgeted amount, but adequate <br />funds are available for that amount in account #730- <br />4121-703. <br />Motion/Second: Hankner/Wuori to authorize the purchase <br />of a brake lathe in the amount of $3,377 from Rel's <br />Manufacturing, Inc., with funding of $3,000 to come <br />from account #100-4260-703, and $377 to come from <br />• account #730-4121-703. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Public Works Director Minetor requested Council approve <br />the hiring of an engineering intern, as budgeted, <br />and recommended Troy Gamble, who was the Engineering <br />Aide last summer, to fill the position. He stated Mr. <br />Gamble is interested in the position and would be <br />available to work part time through the school year <br />and full time during the summer. $12,000 is available <br />in the budget, which is more than sufficient to cover <br />this cost. <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Blanchard to authorize the hiring <br />of Troy Gamble for the position of engineering intern <br />at the wage rate of $7.50 per hour, not to exceed the <br />budgeted amount for 1989. <br />Motion Carried <br />12. Discussion on <br />within the City and recommended the Council look at the Uses for Tax <br />properties to see if they have any value or use for Forfeited Land <br />• the City, and if so, the City should pick them up now. <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley recommended the Council <br />direct Staff to undertake an analysis and determine <br />what feasible, reasonable uses could be made by the <br />
