Mounds View City Council June 25, 1990 <br />Regular Meeting Page Two <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />• Mr. Linke presented a check in the amount of $5,340.16 <br />to Mayor Hankner, as a donation from the Lions Club <br />to cover the shortfall from the spring clean-up day. <br />Mayor Hankner thanked the Lions Club for their <br />donations. <br />Mayor Hankner closed the regular meeting and opened <br />the first public hearing at 7:22 PM. <br />Ron Fagerstrom, of the Silver View Park Task Force, <br />explained the purpose of the task force was to <br />develop the park and find the best manner to <br />utilize the facility, for the use of everyone. Mr. <br />Fagerstrom reviewed the report of the task force <br />and their recommendations. <br />Mayor Hankner clarified that no action would be <br />taken by the Council this evening, and this was <br />a public hearing to receive input from the <br />residents. <br />A question was raised concerning blacktopping of <br />the pathways. Wayne Burmeister, of the Park and <br />• Rec Commission, explained the thought process that <br />was used by the Park and Rec Commission. <br />Pam Starr, also of the Park and Rec Commission, <br />further explained. the rationale for blacktop, in <br />making the pathways handicapped accessible. <br />Millie Ash, of Lake Court Drive, stated there was <br />a problem .with all-terrain vehicles using the <br />pathways, and blacktopping would increase that. <br />Cliff Ash, of Lake Court Drive, questioned <br />whether the City would ban bikes and skateboards <br />from the park. <br />Mayor Hankner replied that was not a considera- <br />tion at this point, and the Council is just <br />taking input now. <br />Adeline, no last name or address given, stated <br />the area needs to be made handicapped accessible, <br />particularly for residents of the senior citizen <br />building, and they must realize kids will be <br />destructive with anything. <br />Jerry Larson, of Mounds View Drive, stated the <br />pond is going to pot and is being overrun with <br />lily pads.
