Mayor Linke announced that the Appreciation Dinner <br />will be March 16, 1991 and that tickets are available <br />at City Hall. <br />Report of Administrator: <br />1. City Adm,__n~strator Orduno reviewed a letter <br />she had prepared in response to a request <br />from the Suburban Cable Commission to the <br />National Leaque of Cities soliciting our <br />support of the cities across the nation <br />asking that Congress not consider <br />legislation which would severely limit <br />municipal governments' ability to <br />administrator or collect franchise <br />fees. Orduno asked that the Council, <br />by motion, agree to support the North <br />Suburban Cable Commission's request. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Wuori to support the <br />• National League of Cities in their plea to <br />Congress not to consider legislation <br />that would limit municipal governments <br />ability to collect franchise fees. <br />5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />2. The North Suburban Cable Commission is offering <br />scholarships for students in mass <br />communications, related fields and currently <br />enrolled in school with one academic year of <br />study. These scholarships amount to $500. <br />Deadline is March 21, 1991. Applications <br />are available at City Hall. <br />3. Metropolitan Waste Control Commission has <br />scheduled breakfast meetings for March 7, 14 <br />and 19 to discuss the Waste Water Treatment <br />and Handling Implementation Plan. If <br />anyone is interested in attending please <br />contact City Administrator Orduno for more <br />information. <br />CITIZEN'S COMMENTS <br />• Mr. Bill Frits, 8072 Long Lake Road, reported an interesting piece of <br />information to the City Council. Mr. Frits utilizes the services <br />of Ace Solid Waste as his solid waste carrier. After receiving <br />
