He <br />report that explained what was going to be <br />?asked if the citizens have input and who was <br />County as to what the citizens want done with <br />Mayor Linke stated that the City has no jurisdiction as to what is done <br />with Long Lake Road because it is a county road. <br />Ric Minetor, Director of Public Works/City Engineer, stated that the <br />widening of Long Lake Road had been discussed previously before the <br />Council. <br />Bill Frits again asked who had authorization to say what the citizens of <br />Mounds View wanted, with no hearing. Mr. Frits strongly opposes the 7 foot <br />wide sidewalks proposed for this project. He asked who will pay for this <br />improvement? <br />Mayor Linke stated that the project cost is not assessed to the residents, <br />but is paid for by MSA monies. These are the taxes which are collected <br />~om statewide gasoline purchases. <br />Mr. Frits stated his opposition to these sidewalks and stated he will <br />obtain petitions if necessary. <br />Ric Minetor, Director of Public Works/City Engineer, stated that public <br />hearings only have to be held if there are assessments being made to the <br />residents. There was a public meetinq held on this issue. <br />Councilmember Wuori questioned Mr. Frits as to why he was so opposed to <br />these sidewalks if there were no costs involved. <br />Mr. Frits' reply was that the money could be used for something else like <br />the many roads that need repair in the City. <br />Councilmember Wuori stated that these funds could only be used on MSA roads <br />and the Long Lake Road project was budgeted for this year. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Mayor Linke opened the public hearing for D and R Liquor at <br />7:28 p.m. Hearing no comments, Mayor Linke closed the public <br />hearing at 7:28 p.m. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Blanchard/Quick to approve the off-sale intoxicating <br />. liquor license for D and R Liquor, 2345 County Road H2 <br />5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />
