The City Appreciation Dinner was held on Saturday, March 23,
1991 and was a success. Special thanks was given to Sharie Linke
for the time she spent on organizing the event.
2. A plaque was given to the City of Mounds View in recognition of
the service men and women who served in Operation Desert Storm.
If there are any other Mounds View residents who also served but
are not listed on the plaque, please contact City Hall and those
names will be added.
3. A letter was received from E. Scott Dentz seeking a position on the
Park Board. Mayor Linke asked that this position be considered at
this time. Councihnember Quick requested that this item be tabled
since he hadn't received a copy of the application for review. This
item will be placed on the next meeting agenda.
4. A joint meeting was held on Saturday, March 23, 1991, between
several communities; Mounds View, Shoreview, New Brighton, St.
Anthony, Lauderdale, North Oaks, Arden Hills, School Districts
282 and 621, Senator Novak and two County Commissioners. The
meeting was held to discuss how to deal with our present Budget
cuts and consolidation of the City's services. Mayor Linke pointed
out that the City of Mounds View was already doing this by sharing
the City Forester with New Brighton. He also indicated that with
the resignation of Jim Tobias, we may also consider sharing a
building inspector with another community. The next meeting to
discuss this issue will be Saturday, April 27, 1991, at 8:00 a.m. at
Mounds View City Hall.
It was announced that it was our Mayor who suggested using the
term "cooperative efforts" which will now be used when referring to
this issue.
