Mounds View City Council January 24,2011 <br /> Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> Finance Director Beer indicated Mary Tarek has served the City for 30+years and will be retiring <br /> • <br /> on April 22nd. Ms. Tarek will be dearly missed by all. He requested that the Council allow staff <br /> to fill her position in advance to utilize Ms. Tarek's skills and abilities to train the new employee. <br /> Staff recommended Council approve Resolution 7725. <br /> Council Member Mueller questioned the timing on this issue. Finance Director Beer explained <br /> applications would be taken for three weeks and then reviewed by staff to find the most qualified <br /> candidates. Interviews would take approximately one week and Staff hoped to have an employee <br /> onboard by mid-March. This would allow the new employee to be trained in for a month before <br /> Ms. Tarek's retirement. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7725, <br /> Approval to Initiate the Process to Fill the Pending Vacant Accountant Position. <br /> Council Member Stigney requested that the job description require a four year accounting degree. <br /> Ayes—5 Nays—0 Motion carried. <br /> E. Resolution 7727,Approving the 2011 Seasonal Public Works Positions. <br /> Assistant City Administrator Crane indicated in the past the City has required ten seasonal <br /> summer positions. Due to the budget constraints, the public works department was requesting <br /> 1111 eight seasonal summer positions for 2011. Staff recommends approval of the Resolution with no <br /> wage increases. <br /> Mayor Flaherty thanked staff for bringing this to Council in a timely manner. He was pleased <br /> there was no proposed wage increase. <br /> Council Member Mueller thanked the public works department for being conservative with their <br /> seasonal help as this assisted with the budget. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Stigney. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7727, <br /> Approving the 2011 Seasonal Public Works Positions. <br /> Ayes—5 Nays—0 Motion carried. <br /> F. Resolution 7724,Accepting Miscellaneous Cash Donations for 2010. <br /> Finance Director Beer indicated the State requires that donations be accepted by Resolution. <br /> Donations made in 2010 totaled $465. Staff presented the Resolution to Council and <br /> recommended approval,thanking the anonymous donors. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull.
