The streets were built to last 50-60 years and
throughout this lifetime the City patches, seals, and overlays the roadways. He indicated the
• City does not currently have a crack filling machine. The City of New Brighton has a unit for
sale that is in excellent condition, for $4,275. The purchase
of this equipment was not in the 2011 budget, but would assist with the street preservation
program. He indicated the stump grinder proposed to be purchased for$5,000 this year could be
deferred. Staff recommended the Council approve the purchase of the used crack filling
machine.
Council Member Mueller questioned how the City would grind stumps this year, if the purchase
is delayed.
