Mayor Flaherty questioned if this was the first time the grant program has been offered. Police Chief Kinney indicated the grant program was offered yearly, but the City has not been awarded the grant in four or five years. He stated the City has been applying for the grant each year; however,there were not enough funds to meet the needs of each city applying. MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7812, Authorization to Enter into a Grant Agreement with the Minnesota Institute of Public Health as Part of the Alcohol Compliance Check Program. • Ayes—5 Nays—0 Motion carried. B. Resolution 7813,Renewal of Training Contract with Century College. Council Member Mueller asked if the contract expense was included in the Police Department's budget. Police Chief Kinney noted the expense was in the Department's budget on a yearly basis. Council Member Mueller questioned how the Chief determined who within the Department should attend the training. Police Chief Kinney stated two officers could attend a course and he would review and approve the members attending. MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull.
