to all lights in City parks. In the past, the Public Works Department has borrowed a bucket truck or had to hired electricians to replace light bulbs.

Public Works Supervisor Peterson commented the Public Works Department was also responsible for trimming tree limbs along City trails and sidewalks. Recently, the EDA approved banners
for the lights along the County Road 10 corridor. Staff was anticipating continued maintenance for these light poles and banners and a bucket truck would assist the Public Works Department
with this work.

Public Works Supervisor Peterson stated in 2007 Staff proposed budgeting $145,000 for a new bucket truck. At this time, a used model would meet the needs of the City and greatly assist
the Public Works Department in completing tree trimming, banner installation, and light maintenance throughout the City. The budget was revised in 2011 to $45,000 for a used bucket
truck. Staff has since been searching for a used bucket truck and found a piece of equipment at Aspen Equipment in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Public Works Supervisor Peterson described the piece of equipment in detail. He explained he negotiated a purchase price of $45,000 plus tax and license fees. The 2012 budget does
include this purchase in the Vehicle Equipment Fund. Staff recommended the Council approve the purchase of the 2007 bucket truck.

Council Member Stigney questioned if the piece of equipment could be cost shared with a neighboring community. Public Works Supervisor Peterson stated the City of Blaine has two bucket
trucks. It may be difficult to share this piece of equipment because it was needed by the departments at the same time, in most cases. He noted he had not discussed this matter with
Spring Lake Park.

Council Member Mueller asked if the doors would be repainted. Public Works Supervisor Peterson indicated the City would need to have City decals applied to the doors.

Mayor Flaherty commented this item was budgeted in 2011 and was carried over to 2012. Finance Director Beer stated this was the case, that the City had funds set aside for this purchase.

Mayor Flaherty supported the purchase of this piece of equipment given the maintenance needs in the City.

MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull.
