Mounds View City Council May 8, 1999 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br />• B. Monday, April 24, 2000 City Council Minutes <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Thomason. To accept the April 24, 2000 City Council minutes as <br />presented. <br />Council Member Marty indicated he would abstain, for the reason previously stated. <br />Ayes - 4 Nays - 0 Abstain - 1 (Marty) Motion carried. <br />5. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br />None. <br />6. REPORTS <br />Mayor Coughlin reported he attended the Cable Committee meeting, where there was discussion <br />regarding promoting the Cable Access Channel, in order to obtain a greater viewing audience and <br />to attempt to meet the informational needs of the residents as best as possible. <br />Mayor Coughlin reported he recently attended an Area Leadership Breakfast at which a variety <br />of School District and elected officials were present. He stated this was a very good meeting, <br />• with a special speaker who was very informative. He indicated that having attended this <br />Breakfast the previous year, he found this to be a worthwhile event to attend once again. <br />Mayor Coughlin extended his thanks to Pastor Bill McKinney of Salem Baptist Church for <br />inviting him to attend the National Day of Prayer meeting. He indicated this event was <br />approximately two-hours in length, with a variety of Churches in the area that had gathered to <br />recognize the National Day of Prayer. He stated this was a very inspiring and wonderful time, <br />and reiterated his appreciation to Pastor McKinney and all of the other area pastors for inviting <br />him to attend. <br />Mayor Coughlin stated he attended the previous Planning Commission meeting, where there was <br />discussion pertaining to the City's Stormwater Management Plan. He indicated the Commission <br />would be working on this item at their next few meetings. He stated there was a video <br />presentation from the League of Minnesota Cities, which discussed the correct and incorrect <br />ways to conduct a meeting, the proper focus of Planning Commissions and Councils, and what <br />might sidetrack those groups. He indicated this 20 minute video was available to the Council, <br />and could be presented at an upcoming Work Session if the Council so desired. <br />Mayor Coughlin extended his appreciation to Tom Kinney of the Police Department for his <br />assistance in coordinating Lieutenant Brick's retirement party, which was held the previous <br />Saturday. He indicated four of the five Council Members attended this enjoyable event. He <br />• extended his congratulations to Lieutenant Brick for a job well done during his many years of <br />service to the City of Mounds View, and wished him well in his retirement. <br />
