<br />Mounds View City Council September 11, 2000 <br />Regular Meeting Page 15 <br />amendments it would not make the ballot and then there would have to be a special election <br />• which would cost the tax payers extra money. <br />Council Member Stigney indicated he had not asked for a special election but he feels that more <br />time should be spent on the charter amendments before sending it to the voters. <br />Mayor Coughlin asked that the discussion be kept to the question of whether or not the language <br />of the resolution before the Council is acceptable to the Council. He then asked for further <br />discussion and seeing none called for the vote. <br />Ayes - 3 Nays - 1 (Stigney) Motion carried. <br />Council Member Quick was not present for the vote. <br />Mayor Coughlin indicated one of the Planning Commission members has resigned and he will be <br />accepting applications to fill the seat for the next two weeks with the deadline set for Monday, <br />September 25, 2000 at 12:00 noon. He explained this should give ample time to add to the <br />agenda for September 25, 2000 and to bring the new member up to speed on current projects. <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Reed noted the closing date for candidate filing for local <br />offices was Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at 5:00 p.m. and indicated that the official clock would <br />be the clock on the south wall and no applications will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. <br />Council Member Stigney noted the filing fee is $20. <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Reed noted the City has been overcharging applicants and <br />indicated that per Ramsey County the City is only allowed to charge $5. <br />11.
