(*2024 Annual Report Attachment in Council Inbox) <br /> Item No: 6A <br /> MCVN S �Lr► Meeting Date: 2/24/2025 <br /> L�► Type of Business: Special Order of Business <br /> Administrator Review: ^ <br /> City of Mounds View Staff Report <br /> To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From: Ben Zender, Chief of Police <br /> Item Title/Subject: 2024 Annual Report <br /> Background: <br /> As part of the City Strategic Plan process, Department Heads provide a quarterly report <br /> outlining the status of their projects and percent completed in achieving the goals and <br /> policies adopted by the City Council through the Strategic Plan. <br /> Discussion: <br /> At the Beginning of 2023, the Mounds View Police Department continues to work on the <br /> action steps and tasks in order to fulfill the goals and strategies to support the City <br /> Councils Vision and Mission as outlined in the 2023-2025 City Strategic Plan. Despite <br /> staffing levels, MVPD is still committed to increased proactivity and outreach activities. <br /> Strategic Plan Vision/Strategy/Goal: Vison: A progressive community that is <br /> welcoming, and a desirable destination to all ages and cultures, who seek progress <br /> through partnerships, and where residence can work, live, and play safely and show <br /> pride in the community. <br /> Goal A: Increased enforcement and responsiveness to drugs, traffic, code violations, <br /> and petty crimes. <br /> 1. VCET continues to make several major narcotic arrests <br /> 2. Increased traffic enforcement efforts through the Ramsey County Traffic Safety <br /> Initiative and the TZD program <br /> 3. Two radar signs have been deployed throughout the city to remind motorists to <br /> slow down <br /> 4. Purchased Flock software technology <br /> 5. Attended a Town Hall meeting dealing with a variety of issues <br /> 6. Agency fields two K9 teams and a full time VCET officer. <br /> Goal B: Continue community outreach programs. Focus on diversity events and public <br /> relation activities. <br /> 1. Participated in the area Law Enforcement Coat Drive where we collected 835 <br /> coats. We won the Justin Morneau bat and it's on display at the MVPD! The <br /> coats were donated to the Salvation Army. <br /> 2. Participated in the Pink Patch Campaign where we raised $760 to go to Crystal <br /> Police Officer Daniella Romo who is currently battling breast cancer <br /> 3. Increase social media presence and activity through X (formerly Twitter), Next <br /> Door, Instagram, and the Mounds View city Facebook page. <br /> 4. Continued Christmas "Hero's and Helpers" program <br />
