Item No: Special Meeting, 02 <br />Meeting Date: March 3, 2025 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 10071, Approving a Professional Service Agreement with <br />ARVIG to Install Additional Network Fiber in the Community Center for <br />the Mounds View School District <br /> <br />Background/Discussion: <br /> <br />The Mounds View School District, ISD 621, rents the Community Center for testing such as PSAT and <br />Advance Placement (AP) for its students and will be signing a long-term agreement with the City to <br />continue utilizing the Community Center for this testing. State standards for testing has recently <br />changed which requires it to be completed electronically (on-line). <br /> <br />To facilitate and effectively administer the testing, the current WiFi signal at the Community Center will <br />require an upgrade. ISD 621 has contracted with ARVIG to install new network fiber and upgrade the <br />WiFi signal in the Community Center. <br /> <br />A Professional Service Agreement is required to be approved by the City Council. The City Attorney <br />has drafted the agreement and at the time of writing this report, ARVIG is reviewing said agreement. <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: No Impact to the 2025 Budget, ISD 621 is absorbing all costs for this project. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the City Council adopt the attached Resolution approving the Professional Service <br />Agreement with ARVIG to install new fiber network wiring to increase the strength of the existing WiFi <br />signal in the Mounds View Community Center. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Don Peterson, Director of Public Works/Parks and Recreation <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Mounds View Vision <br />A Thriving Desirable Community <br /> <br />
