Mounds View City Council February 25, 2002
Regular Meeting Page 3
• Mr. Jahnke said he feels the City should hold the YMCA accountable and make them commit to
the promises made because they are not doing what they said they could do. He also commented
he did not think it would help to put a different person over there.
Mayor Sonterre noted Mr. Jahnke echoed the concerns of Council and the City's desire to gain
control back at the Community Center.
Michelle Sandback of 2356 Sherwood Road indicated she has a concern regarding commission
applications and procedures and would like to request two things. The first is public disclosure
of the application procedure for commissions, and the second would be to ask Council to
consider an amendment to the Code to describe the procedure as a matter of public record.
Mayor Sonterre said he thought the procedure was covered in the Code and noted he could make
public the applications made available to Council Members. He clarified that the procedure has
been for the Mayor to review the applications and make a recommendation to Council for
appointment. He further stated that, like any document held at City Hall, the applications are
public documents.
Ms. Sandback said she feels it is important that people who apply for commissions should be
able to know the procedure and, in order to know, she thinks there needs to be something in
writing in the Code. She then stated that she did not see where in the Code the procedure was
stated.
Mayor Sonterre asked Staff to review the matter to determine whether there is room for
clarification.
5.
