Mounds View City Council June 24, 2002 Regular Meeting Page 5 • • • City Administrator Miller indicated the reason the matter was before Council is because it is not in the budget as the past public works directors did not have an engineering license. She then indicated the City had elected to hire a public works director with an engineering license and commented that the City does pay for other licenses such as post licenses. She also commented that the engineers' licensure was part of the job description. Council Member Quick asked City Administrator Miller if this item was contained in the budget. Council Member Stigney asked if the post licenses are part of the contract. City Administrator Miller indicated she was not sure. Mayor Sonterre asked if the engineering degree and licensure was included in the job description for the public works director. Council Member Stigney said he did not feel that the City should pay for private licensure. Council Member Quick asked how the matter was handled during the hiring process. City Administrator Miller indicated the issue did not come up. Council Member Quick indicated the City used to have three engineers on Staff and said he would like to know how the situation was handled back then. MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Stigney. To Table Approval of Consent Agenda Item G for Further Information From Staff. Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. Council Member Stigney asked Staff to verify whether the post licensing is part of the contract. MOTION/SECOND: Thomas/Marty. To Approve Consent Agenda Items B, D, and H as Presented. Community Development Director Ericson indicated that the public hearing set for the Martin Harstad rezone will be heard at the July 8, 2002 Council Meeting as Council does not meet on July 10, 2002. Assistant City Administrator Reed indicated that Resolution 5794 was placed on the dais in conjunction with Item H. Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried.
