Mounds View City Council February 24, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br />Chief Sommer indicated the City does not have a reserve program. <br />Mayor Linke asked whether administrative offenses are listed under the 458 traffic citations. <br />Chief Sommer indicated that they are. <br />Mayor Linke asked the Chief to break out the administrative offenses for Council review. <br />Council Member Marty asked how many of the 458 were for moving violations. <br />Chief Sommer indicated there were 156 moving violations, 118 were for expired tabs and 152 for <br />parking tickets. <br />Council Member Marty asked Chief Sommer to explore whether there would be any grants <br />available to assist with the costs to upgrade radios. <br />Chief Sommer indicated there may be grant money available from the federal terrorism grants or <br />the County can levy for the funding. <br />Council Member Marty thanked Chief Sommer for commending the officers involved with the <br />Mermaid incident and then congratulated the officers for saving the man's life. <br />Council Member Gunn commended the School Resource Officers for a job well done at <br />Edgewood and Irondale. <br />B. Discuss Options for Filling the City Administrator Vacancy <br />Mayor Linke commented that hiring another City to fill the Administrator vacancy has a number <br />of negatives as does using Staff to hire the boss. He then said that hiring a staffing firm on a per <br />hour basis may be the answer. <br />Council Member Marty indicated he would like to solicit applications and send them on to First <br />Site Staffing or some staffing company to review. <br />Mayor Linke asked how much time First Site Staffing would spend on going over the <br />applications and providing five or so for Council review. <br />Council Member Stigney asked how much time New Brighton could devote to the project. <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson indicated New Brighton has said it would take from 60 to 80 <br />hours and the number of hours they could devote to it would depend on how much work Council <br />wanted and what was going on in their City. <br />Council Member Stigney asked for a timeframe from New Brighton. <br />
