Mounds View City Council January 24, 2005
Regular Meeting Page 9
Carol Mueller, 8343 Groveland Road, asked if this language were changed if that would allow
them to build a Community Center with a swimming pool and a water slide that was five
stories tall.
Director Ericson stated that that was correct.
Mayor Marty stated that was if the Council approved it.
Director Ericson stated that that's the key, and it would have to be in the public interest. He
stated that they didn't want afive-story residential structure ten feet away from a single family
house, so it has to serve the public interest.
Mayor Marty closed the public hearing.
Council Member Flaherty that he thought this was the correct thing to do, and that at least it
allowed the question to be asked, so he thought it was a good thing.
Mayor Marty stated that he thought any variance or approval should be made by the Planning
Commission first.
Director Ericson stated that there is an assumption that the Planning Commission does have to
• review all of these applications and projects before they come to the City Council.
Crty Attorney Riggs stated that rt would be redundant to add that language since the Planning
Commission has to review this before it comes to the City Council
Council Member Stigney asked if this was going to be prepared in a summary manner for
publication.
Director Ericson stated that the summary of the Ordinance would be published.
MOTION/SECOND.
