To approve Resolution 6473, Approving Step/Longevity <br />Increases for Deputy Chief Tom Kinney, Officer Ben Zender, Officer Kasey Keckeisen, Officer <br />Steve Geringer, and Jodi Salmonson. <br />Council Member Stigney read the Resolution aloud. <br />Council Member Thomas noted that the "a" in the Resolution title should be deleted. <br />• Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. <br />F. First Reading and Introduction of Ordinance 758, an Ordinance Limiting <br />Garbage Pickup to Thursdays Only. <br />MOTION/SECOND. Gumi/Flaherty. To waive the reading and approve the first reading of <br />Ordinance 758, an Ordinance Limiting Garbage Pickup to Thursdays Only. <br />Council Member Stigney noted that the only thing being removed is Wednesday pickup, yet <br />there was a lot of money spent putting the whole ordinance in the newspaper. <br />Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. <br />G. Resolution 6478 Converting one Patrol Officer Position to a Sergeant Position. <br />Chief Sommer stated this resolution involves converting one patrol officer position to a sergeant <br />position, and the promotion would be effective May 1St and would be funded by reducing the <br />amount of funding given to the New Brighton Police Department to help fund a school resource <br />officer over several years by the amount necessary to fund the sergeant position. <br />There was a discussion regarding funding the school resource officer, and it was decided that it <br />wouldn't reduce the funding that much this year, and it could be worked into the budget in more <br />detail in later years. <br />
