Mounds View City Council July.25, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br />• Ms. McIntire explained that they hold teen dances throughout the summer and is put on by the <br />local teens and bands, which also helps to offset the costs. <br />Council Member Gunn asked if they could use volunteers for teen nights. <br />Ms. Remersmith stated that they could always use volunteers and invited anyone who would like <br />to be involved to contact the YMCA for further information. <br />Ms. Remersmith stated that they are privileged to have hired Dan Weldon. She stated that Mr. <br />Weldon is a native of Blaine and graduated from. the University of Minnesota-Mankato and <br />provided Council with a brief background. She stated that he has been working with the YMCA <br />now for the past three weeks and they are lucky to have him on the team. <br />7. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS. <br />Acting Finance Director Tatarek asked Council to let her know if they want better explanations <br />or clarifications included on the report. She stated that if they contact them prior to the meeting <br />they would include whatever information they need to understand the expenses. <br />MOTION/SECOND. Marty/Flaherty. To approve the Just and Correct Claims as presented. <br />• Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />8. COUNCIL BUSINESS. <br />A. 7:05 Public Hearing to Consider Resolution 6587, Awarding a Construction <br />Contract and authorizing a Letter of Agreement with TINA for the <br />Groveland Park Building Replacement Project. <br />Public Works Director Lee stated that on July 14, 2005 the City received bids for the Groveland <br />Park Building Replacement Project. He stated that they received two bids, the low bid came <br />from Unicore Incorporated with a total base bid of $289,700 and as directed by City Council, the <br />air conditioning unit was broken out as a separate bid alternate noting that the bid was for a total <br />of $7,000. He stated that if the City Council should decide to proceed with this project the next <br />two action steps would be to award a contract for this project and to authorize a letter of <br />agreement with TKDA for construction services in the amount of $14,000. He stated that the <br />total cost of this project including the engineering, the base bid, the bid alternate for the air <br />conditioning unit and the construction services is $330,300. He stated that 65-percent would be <br />funded through the Park Dedication Fund and 35-percent would be funded from the Special <br />Project Fund. He stated that if City Council awards a contract for this project work would begin <br />in August and would be substantially completed by November 30, 2005. He stated that along <br />with the report submitted there are two letters included from TKDA, the letter of agreement for <br />• construction services and a letter of explanation as to why masonry construction is more <br />expensive than residential stick construction and why masonry construction was recommended <br />
