Mounds View City Council August 22, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 34 <br />• the Community Enterprise Fund. She noted there had been discussion with him at the work <br />session and whether we were at that stage. The Council had decided to give him a chance and <br />see where we are at in a couple months. <br />Councilmember Stigney stated this thing will never work so why not give him 100 or 120 days <br />notice. <br />Councilmember Gunn stated she prefers to give Mr. Dodds a chance <br />Ayes-4 Nay-1 (Stigney) Motion carried. <br />L. Resolution 6606 Resolution Supporting the Improvements to Springbrook <br />Nature Center Associated with the SPRING (Sanctuary Protection & <br />Renewal into the Nezt Generation) Project and Supporting the Request to <br />the State of Minnesota for Financial Assistance <br />Administrative Assistant Crane advised that the voters in the City of Fridley approved a <br />$275,000 referendum in November of 2004 to continue programming and City-paid staff at <br />Springbrook Nature Center. The Springbrook Nature Center is a 127-acre park City of Fridley <br />park that provides year-round opportunities to experience and learn about nature and is an <br />environmental education center that serves school groups, community organizations and families. <br />She advised that the Mayor of Fridley is asking neighboring communities to support the <br />• foundation in achieving a State grant by submitting a resolution of support. The Springbrook <br />Nature Center is now making a request fora $2.5 million matching State grant. The Springbrook <br />Nature Center Foundation has initiated a fundraising campaign to complete this matching grant <br />to reach their $5 million goal for capital improvements at Springbrook Nature Center. <br />Mayor Marty noted this does not cost Mounds View anything and has been a hard fought fight by <br />area residents. He stated Mounds View residents have also supported it with signs in their lawns. <br />MOTION/SECOND. Marty/Thomas. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6606 <br />Supporting the Improvements to Springbrook Nature Center Associated with the SPRING <br />(Sanctuary Protection & Renewal into the Next Generation) Project and Supporting the Request <br />to the State of Minnesota for Financial Assistance. <br />Ayes-5 Nays-0 Motion carried. <br />M. Resolution 6585 Approving a Severance Package for Regular Full-time Golf <br />Course Employees <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed that this item was previously reviewed by the City Council at <br />the July 5th work session and the August 8th regular session. He stated a question was asked <br />about the flex time balances. He noted the severance provision proposed and sick leave, as <br />• outlined in the severance policy, that flex time be allowed to play itself out for each employee <br />and that be their termination date so they will be able to use the flex time.
