Mounds View City Council August 22, 2005 <br />Regular Meeting Page 50 <br />• B. Staff <br />Director Ericson advised that the third installment of the New Brighton Area Historical Society <br />book is available for purchase at the Mounds View City Hall and the Historical Society. He <br />stated it also contains a lot of interesting information and pictures about Mounds View. <br />Councilmember Thomas asked when the first meetings will be held at the Community Center. <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated it will be the first meeting in October. Councilmember Thomas <br />asked that the Commissions who meet in this chambers also be notified. <br />Councilmember Gunn stated she will present the Library Task Force report at the work session. <br />1. Police Department 2°d Quarter Report <br />Police Chief Sommer presented the 2°d Quarter Report and advised they are partnering with the <br />New Brighton Police Department for the Save and Sober Grant, which is currently under review. <br />Councilmember Flaherty referred to a resident letter commending Officer Kampa and stated it is <br />always nice to see that recognition. <br />Mayor Marty stated he is still getting calls about speeding vehicles and has been thanked when <br />the radar trailer is in use. He stated he is glad it also checks data and advised that Public Works <br />• Director Lee mentioned a speed issue on Mounds View Drive. Mr. Lee would like to see officers <br />make more traffic stops because he believes it is more effective than installing speed limit signs. <br />He asked Police Chief Sommer to pass the Council's appreciation on to the Police Officers. <br />Councilmember Thomas stated she has seen an officer patrolling Highway 10 on three different <br />occasions. <br />2.
