Mounds View City Council September 12, 2005
Regular Meeting Page 3
• 27% last year. He stated that was horrible and he wants to hold the Council's "fingers to the fire"
to get a zero increase to happen.
Mayor Marty explained that none of the pooled TIF funds the City presently has will go into the
Medtronic project. Also, Director Ericson has said that Medtronic will utilize all the project area
if they build out to Phase 3. Mayor Marty stated he noticed in the property diagram that there is
some property to the east side of the golf course and extended pond that had no development
plans. He noted that Medtronic had even stated that area will be maintained as green space.
Director Ericson stated that is correct but there will be extensive wetland enlargement, wetland
mitigation, and wetland banking in that area which will create a wet space that will have no
access at this time. Once that occurs, there will be no possibility for development.
Mr. Siercks stated that City bushes are growing through his cyclone fence. He stated he told the
Public Works Department about this situation and asked if he can trim the bushes but has not yet
received an answer.
Public Works Director Lee stated he will look into that matter and respond back to Mr. Siercks.
6. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS
None.
• 7. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS
This item was considered following Agenda Item 8J.
8. COUNCIL BUSINESS
A. 7:05 p.m.: Public Hearing and Consideration of Resolution 6613 Approving
a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for an Oversized Garage at 7069 Pleasant
View Drive
Community Development Director Ericson reviewed the Staff report indicating the .applicant,
Tom Hansen, 7069 Pleasant View Drive, is proposing to construct an oversized garage associated
with the new home. This new home, with a footprint of 2,000 square feet, would replace a home
that was recently demolished. The proposed garage is 1,082 square feet of which about 140 feet
is a designated workshop considered "accessory space". Anything beyond 952 square feet must
go through a conditional use permit application process.
Director Ericson noted this is a new home on the lot and Staff found the garage width and depth
and height comply with Code. If the garage was attached to the house, it would not be counted as
"accessory space." In this case the garage is not attached and contains a workshop so it requires
• a conditional use permit.
