City Attorney Riggs <br />3 advised that if the City has evidence that the business has actually transferred, they would need to <br />4 cease operations. <br />5 <br />6 Councilmember Flaherty stated they will not get a license for transfer until they receive a <br />7 satisfactory fire inspection and correction of violations. He noted that alone should be enough <br />8 impetus for them to comply. <br />9 <br />to Building Official Osmonson asked if staff should send them a letter stating that and indicating <br />11 the Council will consider the request for transfer of the business license once they receive a <br />12 satisfactory fire inspection. <br />13 <br />14 City Administrator Ulrich noted the next Council meeting will be on January 9, 2006. <br />15 <br />16 The Council directed staff to bring back this matter for action once the property receives a <br />17 satisfactory fire inspection. <br />18 <br />19 H. Resolution 6690 Authorizing the Acceptance of a Traffic Safety Award from <br />20 the MN Department of Public Safety <br />21 <br />22 Police Chief Sommer explained this action will accept an award from the Minnesota Department <br />• 23 of Public Safety and a $2,000 grant, which must be used for traffic safety purposes as additional <br />24 funding to benefit the Mounds View Police Department. <br />25 <br />26 Police Chief Sommer explained that the Police Department submitted an application for this <br />27 year's Safe and Sober challenge award. The application detailed the Police Department's <br />28 program of participation in traffic safety enforcement and education, which included the <br />29 Department's participation in the State-wide enforcement waves throughout the year, the <br />30 Department's directed traffic enforcement in problem areas, and response to complaints. of traffic <br />31 violators. The Department of Public Safety awards-those police and sheriff departments from <br />32 throughout the State whose efforts were deemed exceptional in improving traffic safety. The <br />33 Minnesota Department of Public Safety judged the Mounds View Police Department's efforts to <br />34 decrease impaired driving and increase seatbelt use to be exceptional and awarded the <br />35 Department with second place and amini-grant in the amount of $2,000 to be used for. traffic <br />36 safety purposes. The Police Department proposes the funds be used to purchase digital recording <br />37 equipment for the Intoxilyzer alcohol testing area and interview room for the processing of <br />38 driving while intoxicated offenders. He recommend approval of the resolution and acceptance of <br />39 the grant. <br />40 <br />41 MOTION/SECOND: Thomas/Gunn.
