MEETING IS CALLED TO ORDER <br />2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />3. ROLL CALL: Flaherty, Stigney, Hull, Mueller, Gunn <br />NOT PRESENT: None. <br />4. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />A. Monday, January 26, 2009 City Council Agenda. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn. To Approve the Monday, January 26, 2009 agenda as <br />presented. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />5. PUBLIC INPUT <br />None. <br />6. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br />A. Presentation by Senator Betzold and Representative Tillberry to discuss the <br />2009 State legislative session with the City Council. <br />Senator Betzold and Representative Tillberry addressed the Council and updated them on the <br />2009 State legislative session. They advised of the projected $4.8 billion deficit by June 30, <br />2011 and issues being faced to balance the budget, as required by the State's Constitution. He <br />stated the Senate has a duty to balance the budget and welcomes the City's input. <br />Representative Tillberry stated many did not see this large deficit coming but several years ago, a <br />conference with economists had believed, based on the demographics of Minnesota, it may be 8 <br />to 10 years out.
