To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6715 <br />Authorizing the Re-Advertisement for Bids and Setting a Bid Date for the Groveland Park <br />Building Replacement Project. <br />Councilmember Flaherty offered a friendly amendment to add language indicating: "bid <br />alternates will be accepted and reviewed." <br />Councilmembers Stigney and Gunn accepted this friendly amendment. <br />Ayes-4 Nays-0 Motion carried. <br />E. Resolution 6717 Approving the Plans and Specifications and Authorizing the <br />Advertisement for Bids and Setting a Bid Date for the Random Park <br />• Building Replacement Project <br />Public Works Director Lee stated that this project is moving along and the existing building was <br />demolished very quickly. He noted the estimated construction cost is $221,425 based on the <br />plans and specifications. This compares to the estimated construction cost of $231,000 based on <br />the previous report that was presented. He noted the project includes a new parking lot and <br />sidewalk to access the building. The plan also includes a storm water treatment area to increase <br />water quality. Public Works Director Lee advised that the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry <br />Commission and staff recommend several bid alternates be added, equaling $35,000. The bid <br />alternates are to remove some interior walls and mechanical work, plumbing, and to change the <br />south entrance. <br />Public Works Director Lee displayed a floor plan of the building and explained the Parks, <br />Recreation, and Forestry Commission's consideration and recommendation to remove the walls <br />around the storage room. However, the Commission felt it would be advantageous to retain the <br />walls around the office area. The other recommended change deals with plumbing. He pointed <br />out the location of the vending area and explained the recommendation to move the sink into the <br />vending area so it can act as a serving area. The cost for that change is $5,000. The third <br />recommended change deals with the entrance doors into the building. He noted that there are <br />currently two doors entering the building and Code requires that the doors open out. It is <br />recommended that the two existing doors be removed and one door be inserted that opens out, <br />which will comply with the Code. <br />• Public Works Director Lee stated staff recommends the Council approve the plans and <br />
