Mounds View City Council January 23, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 30 <br />• .Director Ericson stated in conclusion, staff is looking forward to 2006 as there is a lot of activity <br />and it is exciting what that will bring. He stated the Department actively tries to satisfy the City <br />Council's goals and institute its vision and wisdom. He emphasized that staff is excited for 2006 <br />and if the Council has questions that they should feel free to contact him or staff. <br />Director Ericson pointed out there are several statistics and a comparison between 2004 and 2005 <br />in the staff report. He also mentioned that the revenue sheet included is for the whole City and <br />not just the Community Development Department revenues. <br />Councilmember Gunn asked if the Mermaid and hotel expansion will ever happen. Director <br />Ericson stated that he has not talked to Mr. Hall since late November. Director Ericson reported <br />that Mr. Hall indicated he was still talking to investors and in fact it is noted in the most recent <br />facilities guide that was provided to the City Council at a previous meeting. The proposed <br />expansion discusses doubling the number of the rooms. Director Ericson stated he will follow up <br />with Mr. Hall and give an update at the next meeting. He stated he expects the expansion to <br />begin in approximately six months. <br />City Administrator Ulrich added that Director Ericson and his staff do an excellent job for the <br />City and complemented them on all their work. <br />2. 2006 Budget <br />• City Administrator Ulrich referenced the budget copies and pointed out that Independent School <br />District 621 does not receive DARE aid and that the amount represented the school resource <br />officer at Edgewood Middle School. <br />3. Canyon Grill Catering <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed a letter from Canyon Grill and Catering indicating they will <br />be done April 1, 2006. He stated it is incumbent for the City to negotiate the proposal for a <br />bridge agreement while the City makes some final plans. He stated that staff is working on this <br />and this issue will be brought to the City Council work session meeting on January 30, 2006. <br />Mayor Marty asked if Canyon Catering was gone. City Administrator Ulrich stated they <br />indicated they would be interested in another lease. <br />4. Random Park Project <br />Public Works Director Lee stated he had distributed a memorandum from BRAA regarding the <br />Random Park building replacement project and advised that bids will be received on February 2, <br />2006. He explained that as the consultant was putting together plans, it was recommended that <br />the parking lot be moved over to the east about 42 feet for several benefits, mainly to get a larger <br />parking lot by getting four additional spaces. He also explained there would be less fill that <br />• would need to be used. <br />
