Mounds View City Council May 8, 2006 <br />Regular Meeting Page 18 <br /> <br />Councilmember Stigney commented that he was not in support of adding additional staff to the 1 <br />City. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Mayor Marty stated that the City typically has ten seasonal employees. He noted there is a 4 <br />significant amount of projects and construction going on. 5 <br /> 6 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 1 (Stigney) Motion carried. 7 <br /> 8 <br />E. Resolution 6808 Authorization to Advertise for the Public Works Lead 9 <br />Utility Worker Position. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Councilmember Thomas left the meeting at 9:38 p.m. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Director of Public Works Lee explained that William Hanggi, Lead Utility Worker in the Water 14 <br />Division of the Public Works Department submitted a letter of resignation and will be resigning 15 <br />effective May 31, 2006. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Director of Public Works Lee explained this position is responsible for operation, maintenance, 18 <br />and monitoring of the City’s entire water supply system. 19 <br /> 20 <br />MOTION/SECOND: GUNN/FLAHERTY. To waive the reading and adopt Resolution 6808 21 <br />Authorization to Advertise for the Public Works Lead Utility Worker Position. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Mayor Marty stated he would be sad to see Bill go as he has been a fixture in the City for many 24 <br />years. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Councilmember Stigney wondered about the salary of the position to be hired. Director of Public 27 <br />Lee explained the resolution is only to authorize to advertise for the position, and there will be an 28 <br />additional resolution to hire the person which will include the salary that is fixed by contract. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Absent – 1 (Thomas) Motion carried. 31 <br /> 32 <br />F. Resolution 6811 Authorization to Purchase Window Treatments for 33 <br />Renovated City Hall. 34 <br /> 35 <br />City Administrator Ulrich explained window treatments have been chosen and three bids were 36 <br />received for 21 exterior windows and one interior glass wall. He noted that the low bidder is 37 <br />Abbey Carpet. He stated this does not cover some of the windows in the front of the building, 38 <br />but it does include all the office windows. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Councilmember Thomas returned to the meeting at 9:41 p.m. 41 <br /> 42 <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that there appears to be a discrepancy in the total number of 43 <br />window treatments in the Abbey Carpet bid, and stated he was concerned it may not be a full bid. 44 <br /> 45
