Mounds View City Council May 8, 2006 Regular Meeting Page 20 Councilmember Flaherty asked for more information on Change Order 18. Director of Public 1 Works Lee stated that there is a newly created desk in front of where the Public Works 2 department and Administration will be. He explained there needs to be a gate in front of the desk 3 for security purposes. He stated that this item was originally intended but was missed in the 4 original bid. 5 6 Mayor Marty commented that City Hall would not be able to locked without this gate. 7 8 Mayor Marty wondered why this gate was not included in the original bid. He wondered if SEH 9 could be responsible for the costs of the gate since it should have been included in the original 10 bid price. He noted that if this item would have been bid out, the City might have received a 11 more favorable bid as opposed to a change order. 12 13 Councilmember Thomas commented that everything was behind a locked door before the 14 remodel project, so a gate was not necessary before. 15 16 City Administrator Ulrich stated that Public Works was relocated in the building, and now gate 17 security is required. 18 19 Councilmember Thomas commented that the SEH cannot be made responsible since it was not in 20 the plans and specifications approved by the City Council. 21 22 Director of Public Works Lee commented that Staff does have a call into SEH and this item will 23 be discussed. 24 25 Mayor Marty asked if there will be any additional change orders. Director of Public Works Lee 26 stated that a list of change orders was provided to the Council two months ago and there are no 27 additional change orders from that list. He commented that there are two or three more change 28 orders left to be approved from that list. 29 30 MOTION/SECOND: MARTY/FLAHERTY. To waive the reading and approve Resolution 31 6810 Approving Change Orders No. 18 and 19 for the City Hall Rehabilitation Project. 32 33 Councilmember Stigney commented that the original budget for the City Hall Rehabilitation 34 Project was $1.6 million, and the cost is currently at $1.5374 million. He noted the City is going 35 to spend right up to $1.6 million. 36 37 Mayor Marty asked if the Staff report for this item included window treatments.
